Modular Bathroom Ceramic the Cube and Dot Collection by Tamer Nakisci

Designer Tamer Nakisci has
introduced a collection of modular ceramic systems called Cube and Dot
collection. By featuring various colors like white, gray or black, the
tiles surely look great and are somewhat flexible to match any type of
bathrooms either the modern or the classical. For some tile models,
these colorful patterns appear to be 3D and give the feeling as if they
are hanging ornamented pieces. Another fascinating detail is that
customers can create their own designs with the Cube&Dot online interactive tool. And as an additional bonus, this modular bathroom ceramic set also features an interesting pattern of dots and cubes as its name.

Home Design Ideas - Split the Garage!

At Larson Brenner Architects I am currently working a client on a new home design to be constructed in Rochester, MN.  Here we have run into a very common dilemma.  What to do with 3 1/2 cars worth of garage?   

If you put all of that garage to the side of the house you get one very wide plan.  If you put all of that garage forward of the house you get one very deep plan.  Many lots cannot accommodate either one of those plan arrangements.  So what I have proposed to do here is to split the garages into two separate structures.  The main two car garage is directly connected to the house via the mudroom zone.  The additional 1 1/2 car garage is placed on the opposite side of the lot; resulting in a nifty little entry court.  See sketches below.

Here you can see a birds eye view of the layout.  Notice the roof between the garage and house is low.  This helps to reduce the mass of the house.  Pulling the garages a bit forward of the front porch creates a nifty little courtyard.

Plan of the lower story shows the composition of ordinary open Craftsman houses. The entrance opens into the small entries are filtered from the living room by portieres weight, so no draft from the front door is felt on the inside.

Contemporary Semi-Detached House in London By Belsize Architects

The property, a semi-detached house designed by London based architects Belsize Architects and located on a quiet road leading to Hampstead Heath,London comprised a maisonette and a flat, with an old extension to the rear. The main architectural interventions to the exterior consisted of a new extension with a terrace above and redesign of the rear elevation to create large openings. The brief was to form a modern and enjoyable single family home for our client by extending the ground floor and integrating the rear garden with the new interiors.
