More pictures from New England Home magazine, this time a cottage on Nantucket that a Mid-Western couple fell in love with. I love the bathroom and as a former resident of the Mid-West can understand why you would opt Nantucket beaches over lakes.

Cape Cod Summer Retreat

This beautiful Cape Cod dream summer home belongs to designer Meredith Hutchison and is a rebuilt replica of the family’s 1950s summer retreat. When she and her siblings assumed ownership of the house it was extended to facilitate more then one family at once and updated with modern comfort, with the charm still intact. The house has the typical clad facade, nautical themed accessories such as oars and white and blue summery interior. Read the full story in Veranda.

Easygoing Elegance

This summer home in New England featured in New England Homes Magazine is located on Nantucket and looks exactly like a summer house I would want to spend long weekends at. Love the lighthouse style addition on the top of the house where this couple has a cozy reading/ living room and the high ceilings in the dining area.

(My colleagues keep telling me that Hamptons as located on Long Island is in fact not to be referred to as New England but hey...) Lovely New England

Take a look at these lovely New England pictures from the NY design firm S.R. Gamrel. The founders of the company, Steven Gambrel's,  trade mark is classic sensibility that comes alive with an individual mix of modern and traditional.  His own Greenwich, NY apartment has been featured in House & Gardens. Very nice!

New England Style

Lexington Company brought the concept New England interior to Sweden a few years back. Their interior collections are all American East Coast, Hamptons, Preppy, stripes and country side. Very nice! (and they are launching a new online shop too, for us not lucky enough to live within reach of a shop.)

White light on Mathas's Vineyard

As mentioned in a previous blog, Meg Ryan's beach house on Martha's Vineyard is featured in Elle Decor June 2010.  It is an elegant clean lined home, that the actress has hand picked every aspect of (with some help of interior designer Marsha Russell). I love the bath tub, the dark wooden floors and the open air feeling.

At home with Lexington

More pictured from the founder of the Swedish New England inspired company Lexington's big blue house Stockholm. Less stars and stripes then I would have expected, very calm , clearly with some New England influences, but also very Scandinavian. All in all a very nice home! Nantucket Retreat

This Nantucket retreat is designed by the interior designer Victoria Hagan and was featured in American interior design magazine Architectural Digest last year. This sumer home is elegant and sophisticated yet informal and relaxing and gets very high grades in my books. It perfectly captures the New England sirit and feel. I love everything about this beach house but especially like the lamps in the kitchen, will have to track these down on my next US bound trip...
